Killing Jealousy
“He that diggeth a pit shall fall into it; and whoso breaketh an hedge, a serpent shall bite him” - Ecclesiastes 10:8
Some people hate to see others prosper. They can't stand it when others prosper. This is what we call envy. There is a story of a man who killed himself out of jealousy. Sudhan and Anand were good at sports. Both of them would compete. But Anand would always defeat Sudhan. The people decided to make a statue of Anand, who was good at sports. So they built a statue of him. Sudhan was filled with jealousy. He decided to break down the statue. Every day after dark, he would go out and try to break down the base of the statue little by little and make the statue fall. Finally, the statue fell on him and he died. His jealousy killed him.
In the Holy Bible, King Saul could not defeat Goliath. Goliath was killed by a shepherd boy named David. When the people saw this, they sang a song and danced, "Saul has killed his thousands, and David his tens of thousands." Immediately, King Saul became jealous and tried to kill David, who had brought victory for himself and his people. The reason was jealousy!
My dear people of God, if you truly love others, you will not be jealous when they progress in thier life. You will be happy with them. These days, the tortoise called jealousy is killing many people in business, profession, workplace, study, and sports. Thus, there is a proverb, "A house where a tortoise enters will not prosper." Similarly, jealousy is a terrible thing!
So, beloved people of God, one of the characteristics of the devil is jealousy. We must guard ourselves every day against it. The only way to do that is to truly love Jesus. Only then can we love others. Jealousy is a tool that kills us. We should never have it. Hallelujah! May the Lord bless you.
