The God of Comfort

 

“Blessed be God, even the Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of mercies, and the God of all comfort” - 2 Cor.1:3

 

My father passed away on June 21st. I did not expect this at all. I was his only daughter. I have three brothers. I could not accept my father's death at all. I kept crying for a week. I could not even read the Bible properly. After a week, I went to my hometown. The next morning, after finishing my morning prayer, my mind said to look at the verse from the book 'Journey to Salvation' dated 21-6-2025. When I opened it and read it, the following verse was the meditation for the day. "Jesus said to him, 'Truly I tell you, today you will be with me in paradise.'"

 

After reading this verse, a great peace and comfort filled my heart. But I would always cry for my father during my prayer time. Then one day during my prayer time, I asked, "God, show me a sign according to the word you gave me, and after that I will never cry." Exactly two days later, in the early morning, I had a dream. In that dream, I saw my father radiant and dressed in fine clothes. From that day on, my sorrow disappeared, and I was comforted. Glory be to God.

 

In the New Testament, we know the Apostle Paul. He faced many oppositions and challenges on the path of ministry. He mentions that God was a comfort to Paul in the midst of many hardships, struggles, lonely situations, and times of inconsolableness.

 

My dear friends, are any of you reading this today grieving the loss of loved ones? Are you stuck in some problem and struggling without comfort? Do not be discouraged. The God of comfort is with you as a comforter. He knows your pain and sorrow. The God who comforted me will surely comfort you too. Our Lord has a name. He is the God of comfort, the one who comforts all who trust in him. Hallelujah!
