The Holy Spirit in us

 

“But ye shall receive power, after that the Holy Ghost is come upon you: and ye shall be witnesses unto me…” - Acts 1:8

 

How can we retain the Holy Spirit within us? Let's see what we should do so that He will be pleased with us. The Spirit has a personality. If we do things that are not pleasing to Him, He will leave us.

 

A British couple was sent to Israel as missionaries by their church. They were given a house there. They stayed in that house and started doing their work. A dove started to live in their house. They were surprised and happy to see it. The husband, who observed the dove every day, saw a change in its behavior. That is, whenever they spoke loudly in the house, or when the door was banged and locked, that is, whenever there was a lot of noise from the house, the dove would immediately fly away from the house. Sometimes it would not return home. This worried the husband. He wondered if the dove would not come home anymore and shared it with his wife. His wife also said, "Yes, I have noticed what the dove does. If this situation continues, I am also afraid that the dove will not come to our house forever." So, from now on, the husband and wife decided that we should create a peaceful environment for this dove to stay in our house permanently. The dove cannot change itself. They learned that we have to change our actions to suit the dove.

 

Dear All, this is how the Spirit also leaves us with sorrow when we do what is not pleasing to Him. The Holy Spirit knows when to come into us and when to leave us. He is very gentle. Therefore, we must be very careful to let the Spirit lead us. "And as many as are led by the Spirit of God, these are the sons of God," we read in Romans 8:14. If we follow His guidance, He will be pleased with us. "In the same way, Spirit also helps us in our weakness." If we listen to the voice of the Spirit and follow Him, we can go to heaven. Let us consider our ways.
