Step by Step Fall
"He that covereth his sins shall not prosper: but whoso confesseth and forsaketh them shall have mercy" - Prov. 28:13
In Luke 15, we read about the fall of the prodigal son. His fall was gradual, leading to selfishness, separation, poverty, humiliation, and hunger. Eve's condition was also similar. Eve listened to the serpent's voice. She looked at the fruit with lust, took it, and ate it; she also gave it to her husband. We see that she disobeyed God's command. (Gen. 3:1-6)
When we look at the life of Lot, his eyes were fixed on Sodom. Then he chose it. He travelled there. Then he built a house and lived there permanently. The fall in the lives of the prodigal son, Eve, and Lot was not immediate but gradual.
The first verse of the first Psalm clearly states how we should not walk, with whom we should not stand, and where we should not sit. In most situations, sin gradually brings us down and makes us entangled in it. What our eyes see stays in our thoughts, and what we keep thinking about, we eventually do it. Therefore, we must take our first step correctly. We must be alert to sin. All our thoughts, views, and actions must be under the control of God.
Dear Friends, the devil will play a clever trick to make us fall into a sin gradually. For a Christian, a fall does not come in one day. When we allow ourselves to be lost little by little, one day it will lead us straight to a big fall. Therefore, if we know that it is something that is not pleasing to God, but continue to live in the same state unconsciously, our situation will become miserable. So today, let us confess the sins we cannot overcome, leave them behind, and pray earnestly. God is merciful, and He will forgive us. Amen.
