The Hard-Working Women

 

"Whatsoever thy hand findeth to do, do it with thy might;…” - Ecclesiastes 9:10

 

This world is very big, full of wealth, pleasures, fame, pride, and greed. Many are carried away by these things. In the middle of all this, there are countless women who feel broken, discouraged, insulted, and confused, not knowing which way to go. These days beauty is often valued more than character. But the Bible shows us a woman who was not only beautiful but also full of good character. Let us read about her.

 

In Genesis chapter 24, it is written about a woman named Rebekah. The woman was very beautiful and a virgin who had not known a man. She came to the well, filled her jar, and as she returned, Abraham’s servant asked her for water. Without hesitation, she lowered her jar and gave him water to drink. She even gave water to his camels. Rebekah is very active and hard working. We can learn about Rebekah's good qualities from this, not thinking lightly of someone she did not know before nor the person who looked like a servant, but inquired respectfully and treated them with hospitality. Rebekah's response to the servants' questions was also very humble.

 

Rebekah is a woman who challenges women and young girls today with enthusiasm. Maybe you are a young girl reading this. You might say, “I studied well, but I haven’t yet got a job that matches my education, so I’m just sitting idle at home.” Don’t get used to laziness. Even if the work you find doesn’t match your studies, be willing to do it faithfully. Wait patiently in God’s will until the right time comes. Blessings that come after waiting are greater. If we are obedient and humble to the Lord during the days of waiting, that alone can transform us into good characters. The One who transformed Rebecca's life into a blessing will surely transform your life as well.
