Wise Christians

 

“And why call ye me, Lord, Lord, and do not the things which I say?” - Luke 6:46

 

In the Gospel of John, Jesus said, "If anyone loves me, he will keep my words. Whoever does not love me will not keep my words." If we love someone, we will do what they say. If we love Jesus, we will do as he says. If we follow the scriptures, we will live according to the will of God and do what pleases God. Therefore, we grow in holiness. It is the will of God that we become holy. Holiness is something that must be striven for throughout our lives every day. That is why the Bible says, "Let the holy one be holy still."

 

The Bible warns us that if we do not do the will of God, we cannot enter the kingdom of heaven. So, it is useless to be nominal Christians and call Jesus, Lord! etc. It is most important to obey the scriptures, know what the will of God is, and do it in our lives.

 

In a parable, Jesus Christ compares those who obey the scriptures to a wise man who built his house on a rock foundation. A house built on a rock cannot be destroyed even if a mighty flood comes and beats against it. No trial, problem, or struggle in the world can separate those who live according to the scriptures from God. Jesus compares those who do not live according to the scriptures to a foolish man who built his house on a sand foundation. They will easily turn away from God when trials, problems, suffering, and tribulations come. They will not inherit the kingdom of heaven.

 

Beloved, those who say they know Jesus but do not keep his commandments are liars, and the truth is not in them. The Bible warns us today that those who abide in him should walk as he walked. If any of you reading this are trembling at the word and do not give importance to the word, think about your path today. May the Holy Spirit give you the grace to walk according to the scriptures and inherit the blessings of God!
