Our Goal
“I press toward the mark for the prize of the high calling of God in Christ Jesus” - Philippians 3:14
A king once arranged a marriage for his daughter and issued an unusual announcement: Whoever wished to marry the princess must first defeat her in a running race. Many people were interested in the princess, so they ran with all their strength until they were exhausted and lost it. All those who lost returned, disappointed and humiliated. One young prince also came forward, ready to run and marry the princess. The race began, and the prince was ahead of the princess. Suddenly, a beautiful golden fruit was thrown before him. He picked it up and continued running. A second golden fruit rolled his way, and he picked that up too. Just before reaching the finish line, the third golden fruit was tossed. As he bent to pick it up, the princess crossed the finish line and won. The prince, lured by the fruits, missed his chance to marry her.
Dear people of God! How do we live today? There are many who have missed their target because of the world's desires. The devil uses various tricks to prevent us from reaching the goal that God has assigned to us, making us love the world and the things in it. We must be people of clear intellect. The prince knew that many people had failed earlier and when he saw the first golden fruit, he must have thought that some conspiracy was starting. But he took it and moved forward. When the second golden fruit was placed in front of him, he must have run away without taking that fruit, thinking it was definitely a conspiracy. But when he bent down to take the third fruit, the princess touched the target. The prince also failed.
Dear brother! Dear sister! Each of you is well aware of the life of Samson. The Philistines used Delilah to find out where his strength was. Delilah asked him three times, “Where is your strength?” Samson must have realized that there was a plot against him and should have left her or at least should not have opened his mouth. But he was defeated because he told the truth about his strength and his eyes were gouged out. The Bible warns us in Micah 7:5, “Do not put your trust in a friend, nor put your trust in a guide; be careful not to open your mouth to her who lies in your lap.”
You are a people destined for heaven. Do not miss your goal. Be careful! Amen, Hallelujah!
