The God of the Orphans

 

"I will not leave you comfortless: I will come to you" - John 14:18

 

My family does not know the Lord, my father died while I was still in my mother's womb. I never saw my father's face. My mother, who raised me by working as a laborer, is my world! When I finished 8th grade, I accepted the Lord as my personal Savior through VBS. I went to VBS only for sweets, but I received someone much sweeter than them. I was baptized when I was in 10th grade.

 

My mother became sick and died when I was in 12th grade. My neighbours mocked me saying, “You kept saying Jesus, Jesus… now you’ve become an orphan!” The pain was unbearable. At one point, I even thought of ending my life. But knowing Jesus helped me overcome that thought.

 

A spiritual mother in our church comforted and helped me. She also shared a happy news. She said that a week before my mother died, she came home and accepted the Lord as her personal Savior. I thanked the Lord for answering my prayers for her salvation. The pastor of our church made me pursue higher studies. I went to Bible College and then he blessed me to complete my BCA degree. But he also died due to COVID. One day, I stood at a bus stop with just twenty rupees in my hand, not knowing where to go. God, who never abandons orphans, gave me love and warmth through that spiritual mother.

 

They took me to our village missionary movement campus in 2021. Then the Spirit reminded me of my commitment to missionary work at a youth camp held in 2013. During the Sunday service that week, Brother David Ganesan said, "This is the place of comfort you asked the Lord for." Marriage was something I never even considered, but God surprised me. He gave me a loving husband who serves the Lord, wonderful father- in-laws, and mother-in-law. The Lord also gave me a daughter. Look how good the Lord is.

 

My beloved ones! The Lord has not abandoned me, nor has He forsaken me. We are now serving as a family, changing my orphaned state. Similarly, you may have suffered many losses and become orphaned. Do not worry, the Lord Himself will help you, Amen.
