Depend on the Lord
"Trust in the LORD with all thine heart; and lean not unto thine own understanding" – Prov 3:5,6
Although I was born into a Christian family, I did not have a personal relationship with the Lord. But I used to go to church, listen to Christian songs at home, and decorate the house for Christmas. But I was far from God. Since I was not interested in studies, after completing the tenth grade, I helped my father in the shop. I went to see the cinema with my friends. My mother and siblings scolded me. I felt restless and empty inside.
So, I went to Chennai and joined a job there. There too, not only did I watch the cinema with my friends, but I also started drinking. I became addicted to both cinema and drinking. My parents and siblings prayed fervently for me. But they started hating me because I did not stop these bad habits. Even though I wanted to give up this habit of drinking, I couldn't. Many times, I went to the train station to get a ticket to go home, and then I would tear up the ticket and go back to my room. I had two accidents and almost died, but I was saved by the Lord's great grace. When I felt that my family hated me, I tried to commit suicide, thinking that I might die. But the Lord saved me.
One brother brought me home and left me at my elder brother’s house in Thoothukudi. My brother took me to a prayer meeting. Then, after praying, the big wound on my foot started healing. After many months, I slept well that day. When I came home, I cried like a little child and prayed, "My life is yours." Later, when I went to the prayer meeting at the same brother's house, Brother David called me to "serve and wipe away the tears of the Lord." I joined VMM and did the best I could in my ministry. The Lord changed my emptiness and gave me peace and happiness.
Not only that, though I hated myself and never wanted to marry, the Lord gave me a wonderful wife who is saved and involved in ministry and blessed us with a child. For the past six years, we have been serving as a family. If you too are in a state of emptiness in your life, hated and neglected by people, surrender your way to the Lord. He will love you and give you happiness and peace in this world and eternal life in the hereafter.
