Thirty, Sixty, and a Hundredfold...

 

"Take heed that ye despise not one of these little ones..." - Matthew 18:10

 

My hometown is Sattur, in Virudhunagar district. Here in the 1990s, the matchbox industry was the livelihood of the people. The people toiled hard in matchbox factories to educate their children, pay house rent, and meet other basic needs. It was a time of great struggle. In those days, it was very common that 15 children used to gather in the street and play cricket. Among us, using bad words, getting into fights, and disobeying parents were all normal behaviours.

 

Once, a sister from Sivakasi came to our street with a smiling face and told us about the Lord Jesus Christ. She said that she would come next week and tell us a story and left. The next week came. There was no one else there except me. She made me sit down and told me about Jesus Christ and gave me a New Testament. She also came to my house and prayed for me and my family. She taught me not to say any bad words.

 

She would come to see me every week. She taught me more about the love of the Lord Jesus Christ. I also started reading the New Testament she gave me, accepted the Lord Jesus Christ as my personal Savior, stopped speaking bad words, and started obeying my parents. After two months, even before she came, I gathered 10 little children from my street and was ready for her visit. And after I completed 12th grade, I joined that sister’s ministry team and started going to villages to do children’s ministry. In this way, I dedicated myself to the ministry and later, I left for the state of Chhattisgarh in northern India as a missionary.

 

The children’s ministry that sister took for me, that one child was not in vain. Today, the Village Missionary Movement has transformed me into a missionary doing North Indian ministry and a ministry leader developing the workers there. That seed sown in my heart that day continues to bear fruit 30, 60, 100 times. Those of you reading this, do children's ministry with enthusiasm. May you see great results. Amen.
