No Good Thing Will Be Withheld

 

“…but they that seek the LORD shall not want any good thing" - Psalm 34:10

 

I married a missionary who worked in a missionary service organization. It is an administrative order that missionaries should stay in villages and serve. We lived in a very small mud house, that is, a house made of dung, obeying the order of God and the order of the administration. In the 1990s, when there was no proper toilet or bathroom, I had built a bathroom with thatched roofs in the front of the house, a changing room, and a kitchen inside the house.

 

Before my marriage, I had worked as a warden in the best school hostels built by missionaries and lived very comfortably, but this life was a great challenge for me. One day, when I went to finish my morning routine, my saree got caught in a thorn and I suffered a lot. Tears came to my eyes, the question was, should I continue serving with this standard of living? At that moment the Lord showed me Luke 9:62 and said, “You who have put your hand to the plow, will you become unfit for the kingdom of God?”. Thus, God strengthened me.

 

Our monthly income in the ministry was only ₹700. Whatever offerings came in were meant for the mission. One day, my husband informed me that 15 final-year Bible College students from Bangalore would be visiting our mission field and would be staying at our house. I was told that I must cook for them. All we have in our house is a kerosene stove.

 

But a day before the guests arrived, in the evening I received rice, coconuts and money from a mother in a neighbouring village who was not a believer. I was stunned and amazed, wondering how I could cook on this small stove. Then Shanmugathai, a young girl, stepped in and cooked rice for us in a large vessel. With the money given, I was able to buy mutton and prepare a delicious and elaborate meal. The Lord wonderfully and miraculously met all our needs. Our God is the same yesterday, today and forever. He has been blessing us, our children, our grandchildren and our ministries without any shortcomings.

 

Dear friends! You and your family who trust in Him will not lack anything, and your descendants will not lack even a single good thing. Do not be troubled by the current situation. The Lord is with you.
