Light

 

“That was the true Light, which lighteth every man that cometh into the world” - John 1:9

 

In a village, there was a house that had no electricity for 40 years. No matter how much they tried, they couldn’t get an electricity connection to their home. So the family began to pray fervently for light to come to their home. They never missed going to church and prayed both morning and evening. Along with prayer, they submitted a petition to the local district collector’s office. They prayed earnestly that somehow their request would come to the collector’s attention. In response to the collector’s order, a lineman was appointed to that area a few days later. Upon inspection, he discovered that this sister’s house had no power connection, and within three months, he made arrangements for electricity to be provided. After living in darkness for 40 years, the family finally saw light through the electric connection and were overjoyed.

 

In the Bible, a man named Cornelius lived in the city of Caesarea. He was a devout man, a God-fearing man with his entire household, and a great alms-giving man, always praying to God. In this way, the light of Christ met him in his life. He found that Christ is the true light. Only if the light of Christ is in us will we find the right path.

 

My dear people of God! Just as the moon reflects the sun’s light to give light to the world, we must receive the light of Christ and shine it into the world. If the moon moves away from the sun, it can no longer reflect its light. Likewise, if we do not have Christ’s light within us, we cannot bring light to others. When we are in darkness, we do not know the dirt on our clothes. Only when the light shines, the dirt is visible. Only when the light of Christ shines in us, can we shine as light to others and as light to those in darkness.
