Turn away from evil

 

"...Do not resist an evil person..." - Matthew 5:39

 

A lamb was drinking water in a stream. Seeing it, the wolf wanted to quarrel with the lamb and said to the lamb, "Don't you know that this is where I drink water? Why are you stirring the water?" The lamb said meekly, "Sir, you drink the water on the upper side. I get water from the other side. How can I stir the water you drink?" The wolf replied, "Shut your mouth," and when he saw the lamb about to drink, the wolf jumped on it and killed it.

 

We read an incident in the Bible. Samuel said to all the people, “See, Saul, whom the Lord has chosen, for there is none like him among all the people.” Then all the people shouted, “Long live the king!” and blessed the king. While the king was rejoicing, the people of the wicked Belial said, “Can this man save us? They did not bring Saul a gift. If Saul had asked the people of the wicked Belial, “Why do you speak like this?” the people of the wicked Belial would have pounced on Saul like a wolf which killed the lamb. A great problem would have arisen when he took over the kingdom. But Saul acted wisely, as if he didn’t hear anything.

 

You, my dear child of God, some people may speak to you with contempt and mockery. You may be treated with contempt at your place of work. You may be mocked for your hearing. But what you should do is act like Saul, as if you were deaf. That is the wise course of action. Pray to God about the matter and let it go. If you resist those who accuse you, you will lose God’s anointing, calling, and peace upon you. Later, you will regret having listened. The Bible says not to cast pearls before swine. The proverb says, “When you see an evildoer, turn away from him.” So turn away from evil people. Amen.
