Pride Before the Fall

 

"But he giveth more grace. Wherefore he saith, God resisteth the proud…" - James 4:6

 

The God who created us, lives among us and has graciously given us good talents, abilities, memory, and learning abilities. God wants us to be seen with a grateful heart and humble for these. A student who was studying in the second year of the Bible College was very talented, memorized the verses easily, and had the ability to preach well. Even the students studying in the third year would ask him for some sermon notes. Therefore, he always behaved with great pride and arrogance. He did not fear exams because he studied well. He would tease those who were lacking in learning ability, saying that he knew everything. He would be seen with pride and arrogance, saying that he was the first in everything.

 

The second-year final exam came. When he held the pen in his hand to write on the answer sheet, his hand trembled. No matter how hard he tried, he could not write the exam. When he looked at his fellow students and teachers with fear, everyone was shocked. He could not write the subsequent exams either. He cried in anguish. When he thought about why he was in this situation, God made him realize his pride. He realized his mistakes. He completely humbled himself before God and prayed with tears. " I am nothing. Everything I have is what You have given me. Jesus, You are the One who has blessed me with all this," he cried bitterly and received forgiveness. The next time he wrote all the exams and completed his college studies.

 

Yes, my friends, God gives grace to the humble. God opposes the proud. Realizing this, let us abandon the vain pride we find in ourselves and walk humbly with God and our fellow men and glorify God!
