Return to the Original Love

 

"Remember therefore from whence thou art fallen, and repent, and do the first works” - Rev. 2:5

 

One day, Wilbur Chapman asked a man known as “Praying Hyde” (John Hyde) to pray for him. Accordingly, the two went into a room and knelt down. Hyde remained on his knees for five minutes without saying a word. Wilbur Chapman's heart began to beat fast, and he began to sweat. But he had a feeling that he was with God. Tears were flowing from his eyes. Tears were also flowing from Hyde's eyes. After a while, Hyde said, "God," and there was silence again. After a while, the two got up from their knees. As soon as Wilbur Chapman got up, he felt the power of God within him. The presence of God brought tears to his eyes and a change in his heart.

 

In 2007, I also attended a camp in Chennai where about 3,000 people participated. As soon as the preacher came on stage, we felt the presence of God filling us. The person holding the microphone said, "Shall we pray?" That's it, the love and presence of God covered everyone. He could not pray. He sighed with tears in his eyes and longing. The entire hall was silent. Even with tears, he spoke in tongues at intervals. Silence again, 5, 10, 15 minutes passed. Suddenly, cries, groans, exclamations, and sighs of longing were heard here and there in the crowd. The Spirit descended powerfully on the people. Many saw the scene of the cross, were overcome by the love of God, confessed their sins, and began to cry. In a short time, all of us who had gathered wept and gave ourselves completely to God to turn us back to His love and to have our hearts repaired again. God expects such a commitment from us again in these last days.

 

Dear reader! Listen to what God says about us. That is, even though you do many ministries and good works, He says, “I have this against you, because you have left the love you had at first” (Rev. 2:4). No matter how much we serve, God expects us to run to God’s presence every day with desire and eagerness, to talk to Him, and to have personal fellowship with Him. If we are lacking in hours of private prayer, Bible reading, meditation, and living according to the Word, let us confess it to God today and fix it!
