Pray with a Vow

 

"For thou, O God, hast heard my vows:..." - Psalm 61:5

 

Due to poverty in his family, Carl Becker couldn’t pursue higher education and instead joined work at a workshop. He was forced to support his widowed mother and his unmarried sister. But he wanted to study higher, but even after many years, he could not continue his higher education. At that time, Carl Baker prayed with a vow, "If you let me study, I will do your service." With the 100 dollars he saved little by little from the income he received, he enrolled in the Philadelphia Medical College to study medicine. At that time, World War I had begun, and the government felt that doctors were needed to treat the wounded in the war. Therefore, they provided free room, board, and an incentive to students studying in the medical college. Carl Baker studied for free and went to Africa as a medical missionary, just as promised earlier.

 

Even in the Bible, Hannah was childless. Her rivals would make her sad and depressed. Hannah would cry and not eat. Her husband's words did not comfort her. This was the norm. But Hannah prayed to the Lord with a vow. What a vow, remember me and give me a child, and if I give you one, I will give it to the Lord. What happened was that the Lord remembered Hannah. The closed womb was opened. She gave birth to a son. In the same way, she fulfilled her vow. Yes, the prayer of the vow made Anna obtain the blocked thing in her life.

Even though Carl Baker prayed with a vow, after many years, at the age of 22, the opportunity for higher education came. He gave him the grace to study for free. Fulfil the promise faithfully. Many will glorify God through your life. Amen.
