Lying Lips

 

"Lying lips are abomination to the LORD..." - Prov. 12:22

 

In Acts 5 we read about a couple named Ananias and Sapphira. They sold a piece of land and kept back part of the money for themselves. Ananias took the rest of the money and laid it at the feet of apostle Peter. It was their property, their land, yet the devil filled their hearts with a spirit of lies. That is why one after another, both husband and wife died.

 

The Bible says that lying lips are an abomination to the Lord, but those who act truthfully are His delight. Both lies and liars are detestable to God. Therefore, let us fill our mouths and hearts with truth. God's calling and gifts are irrevocable, but we must not boldly lie to God’s servants, God's people, or those in communion with Him.

 

One of the seven things that the Lord hates is a false tongue. The Bible warns us about many who have lied to God and lost their blessings. Let us desire to have our hearts filled with truth and good thoughts. Let us not give place to Satan like this Ananias and Sapphira couple. The lie they told ends in death.

 

My dear brothers and sisters! We are ordinary people. The Bible says, do not give place to the devil. Let us pray every day, Father, that I may not grieve the Holy Spirit and do acts that are against Him and are unfaithful. Let us root out the love of money, possessions, land, and gold and instead learn to say, “What we have is enough”. The opposite of lies is truth. Let us desire to live a truthful life. Just as Moses received a witness saying, "He is faithful in all my house," we too will strive to receive a witness. The Lord will surely help us.
