Three Crosses

 

“…that likewise joy shall be in heaven over one sinner that repenteth…" - Luke 15:7

 

Little children, today we are all going to go back 2000 years to see what happened on a hill called Golgotha, outside the city of Jerusalem. Are you ready?

 

There were three crosses on that hill. On each cross, someone was crucified. The cross in the middle is the cross on which the Lord Jesus Christ hung to save you and me. On either side of him were two thieves crucified. One of them shouted at Jesus and mocked him. "If you are God, come down from the cross. Save us from this punishment." Jesus said nothing but silently endured the pain of the wounds in his hands and feet.

 

But look, the other thief looked at the one who had made fun of him and said angrily, "Don't you fear God? We are both being punished because we did wrong. But this man is being punished because he did nothing wrong. Stop making fun of him." After a moment of silence, he turned to Jesus and said with tearful eyes, "Lord, remember me when you come into your kingdom." Jesus loved him very much. Listen carefully! Even when Jesus Christ performed many miracles, such as healing the sick and raising the dead, some did not believe in him. But here, this thief, the worst of criminals, believed in Jesus when he was hanging there as a very weak man. Isn't that great? Jesus said to him, "Today you will be with me in paradise." Yes, he repented in the last minutes of his life and received the privilege of going to heaven with all his sins forgiven.

 

Dear kids, Many people in this world seek Jesus only for blessings, healing, or solutions to their problems. But this thief asked for none of those. He only asked for salvation to be with Jesus forever! If you also seek Jesus, not just for worldly things but to have Him live in your heart, to forgive your sins, then you too will become an heir of priceless heavenly life. O.K
