Rejected... but Chosen

 

"The stone which the builders refused is become the head stone of the corner" - Psalm 118:22

 

In 1968, for more than a hundred years, Swiss watches were famous. In the world stock market, the stock price of Rs 68, was selling at Rs 80 profit. But ten years later, the stock price was reduced by Rs 10. As a result, more than half of the 65,000 watchmakers lost their jobs in the next 3 years. Today, the Japanese are the leaders in watchmaking and sales. Their watches did not become that famous until 1968. Then how did their watches become famous? They started to use crystals with electronics in the watches they made. They were more accurate than other watches and could run for years with a small battery. Do you know who first created this type of watch? The Swiss. When the researchers who invented it first showed it to the Swiss company and explained it, the watch manufacturers refused to accept it, saying that it would never work. So, when the dejected researchers presented it at a worldwide watch conference, the Japanese immediately accepted it and started making it. So to this day, their watches are world famous. The invention that was rejected turned out to be the best.

 

In the book of Judges, Jephthah the Gileadite was a mighty warrior. Gilead fathered him. Gilead's wife also bore him sons. When his wife's sons grew up, they drove Jephthah out of their home. In this case, Jephthah lived in the land of Tob. After a few days, the Ammonites fought against Israel. They called Jephthah, the elder of Gilead, from the land of Tob. Jephthah, who was rejected by his family, led the battle and defeated the Ammonites. Because even in the situation of rejection, Jephthah had told his case before the Lord at Mizpah.
