Daily Devotion (English) – 18.05.2025 (Kids Special)

 

Ask, and it will be given to you

 

"Ask, and it will be given to you;..." - Matthew 7:7

 

There was the sound of children talking, laughing and happy playing was heard everywhere. You might think this noise was coming from a school playground, right?

 

It is the sound coming from the Teresa Home where orphaned children live. This orphanage was run by an Uncle named David, and the children here love singing songs and listening to stories. That Uncle led these children in prayer. None of the money for their needs came from abroad. This orphanage was run entirely on faith. If you need something, you first ask your parents, right? But if the children here need something, first they ask Jesus then they ask that uncle. That is how they were raised.

 

One day, while preparing dinner at the orphanage, the cooking gas ran out. Uncle David wasn’t there at the time. No matter how many calls they made, there was no way to get a gas refill at that time. It was already 8:45 PM, and the children had finished their study time and came to eat. But there was no food ready. These little ones couldn’t bear their hunger and began to cry. At that moment, one of the caretakers said, “Let’s all get on our knees and pray. Just like how God fed Elijah through ravens, Jesus will feed us too.” So, all the children sincerely prayed. When they finished and opened the door, to their amazement, an unknown uncle was standing at the doorstep with a big basket. He handed a parcel to the caretaker and simply said, “There’s food in here. Please eat,” and left. When they opened the parcel, there were parottas and idlis inside. The children couldn’t contain their joy. “Jesus answered our prayer right away!” they said and began thanking Him and eating happily. There was even food left over a sign of Jesus’ abundant grace

 

Did you see what a big miracle this was? Are you worried that even at home, there isn’t enough food or that you don’t have nice clothes? Just like those children, ask Jesus — He will provide for you too!
