Don't be proud

 

"…God resisteth the proud, but giveth grace unto the humble..." - James 4:6

 

Three good men died and went to heaven. There was only one empty chair next to God, and now the question arose within them, "Who will sit on that chair?" The first man presented his argument to God. God, I bought you a lot of materials to build the temple, so I am the one who is worthy to sit on that chair. The second man said, God, I managed that temple, so that chair is mine. The third man stood very quietly. God asked him, "Why don't you want this chair?" He replied, “Lord, I did not speak greatly about You on earth. I only helped others in small ways, as much as I could. I don’t deserve to compete with these men." But the Lord gave the chair to the third man. The first man talks about his opportunities. The second man talks about his abilities. The third man had both. But he humbly said, “I didn’t do much, I did what I could.”

 

Dear God’s people in Christ! Whatever you do, do it with all your heart, as to the Lord. You should not do it to be seen by men, but to be seen by the Lord. Today, there are many who do it to be praised by men. If you go to many churches today, you will see their names written on the lights and fans. What does this mean? So that others will know about their activities! The first two men are talking about their abilities,

 

The Bible says, “God resists the proud, but gives grace to the humble.” Let us not grow weary and continue in good works for God. In due time, all that we do for God will be rewarded. Jesus said in his Sermon on the Mount that we should not offer offerings, fast, or pray to be seen by men. When Paul says this, he says that he has done nothing great for the Lord. He has done great, great things for God in his ministry. We see him humbling himself. Whatever we do, we do it with the help of God. We should not boast about it. Amen! Hallelujah!
