Holy Communion

"For if we would judge ourselves, we should not be judged" - 1 Corinthians 11:31

When we take part in the Lord’s Supper, eating the bread that represents the body of Jesus Christ and drinking the wine that symbolizes His blood, the Lord has instructed us to do so in remembrance of Him. But how do we remember Christ as we take part in Holy Communion? Do we celebrate it as a Christian ritual, without any sense of Christ, or do we celebrate it in a way that truly remembers and celebrates Him? The Spirit of God wants us to think more and act.

In the preparatory prayer before taking Holy Communion, we make the first confession, "Lord, we remember your death." We should recognize and thank Jesus for the fact that he shed his blood for our sins, freely granted us forgiveness of sins, and reconciled us to the Father. Before each Holy Communion, we should take some time to examine ourselves before God. We should confess our sins, even the smallest mistakes we make, to Jesus, and have our bodies and souls washed by his blood.

As the second confession, we say, "We confess your resurrection." Why did he rise? We should thank him, realizing that it was to be with each of us forever. Third, we declare, "We await your return." So, are we looking forward to his coming every day and preparing for his coming with great care? Let's think about it.

We must make the above three statements sincerely and with a sense of it. For the Bible says, “Do not speak rashly with your mouth in the presence of God.” (Eccl. 5:2)

Beloved! If we have not yet partaken of the Lord’s Supper with such sincere statements, let us resolve to examine ourselves and correct ourselves in this time of grace so that we are not judged. May God Himself reward us with grace.
