The Poor Are Not Forgotten

 

"For the needy shall not always be forgotten: the expectation of the poor shall not perish forever" - Psalm 9:18

 

Beloved in Christ! Greetings of love to all!

 

Joseph is a disabled person who lost both his hands, but he has made progress through his hard work. He had booked a flight ticket to go abroad due to his work. When the day came, he was on the plane. When the woman sitting next to him saw Joseph, she called the flight attendant and said that she would not sit next to him. The attendant, not knowing what to do, told the captain.

 

After a few minutes of consultation, the flight attendant came to the woman and said that she was changing the first-time regular ticket holder to a VIP ticket. Upon hearing this, the woman was very happy. She was happy that she was going to go on a VIP ticket.

 

But when the attendant looked at Joseph and said, "Sir, you can travel on a VIP ticket. This woman is not qualified to travel with you," the woman bowed her head in shame and regretted her mistake.

 

Yes, dear friends, the world thinks little of the disabled and the downtrodden! All the people God created are His children, made in His image! Even in the Bible, we see in 2 Samuel 9:13 that David brought Jonathan's son Mephibosheth, who was lame in both legs, to the palace and made him a regular guest at his table.

 

When Jesus Christ walked around this world, we see that He gave freedom and comfort to the disabled. We who follow Jesus Christ will also love the disabled and help them. Psalm 82:3 says, “Defend the poor and the fatherless, do justice to the afflicted and the needy,” and Psalm 112:9 says, “The righteousness of him who gives to the poor endures forever.”

 

Let us also do what we can to help the helpless children around us! Let us give them the honour they deserve. Amen!
