Honeybee

 

"She hath done what she could..." - Mark 14:8

 

A reporter asked a Nobel Prize-winning woman if she could change the world through what she was doing for society. The woman told a story. A large forest was on fire. The birds and animals there had fled to the nearby river. But a very small bird, a honeybee, brought water from the river in its mouth and poured it on the burning forest. Seeing this, the other birds laughed and said, "The water you are pouring is not going to put out this forest fire, Ha! Ha! ". To this, the honeybee said, "I also know that it cannot be put out! But this forest has done me so many good things. So I should do what I can to help this forest too." The woman told this story and said, "I cannot change the world like that, but I will do what I can for the world."

 

In the Bible, when Nehemiah heard that the walls of Jerusalem had fallen, he was very sad, fasted, prayed, and then spoke to the king. He knew that he could do nothing. But his heart was beating for Jerusalem. God was there. He worked hard to build it. God helped him. The wall was completed in 52 days.

 

My dear friends! What is our state of mind today? We are hearing about the plight of the youth in our country. What is our effort for that? My family and I have accepted the Lord. Do you think that is enough? Having received the benefits and salvation from Jesus Christ freely, what are we going to do for Jesus? We cannot change the world by our own efforts. But let us not forget that like the honeybee, we are also obligated to do what we can.
