Doing the Will of the Father
"...He who does the will of the Father will enter the kingdom of heaven…" - Matthew 7:21
The verses in today's scripture passage emphasize 3 things very importantly for us. 1. We should treat others as we would like others to treat us. 2. We should see the narrow gate that leads to life and enter through it. 3. We should live as heavenly citizens who bear good fruits and fulfill the will of the Father.
An 86-year-old man named "Polycarp" was called one of the fathers of the early church. The Roman government arrested him and forced him to deny Christ. Knowing that he did not deny and was firm in his faith, they increased the punishments. But he did not regret anything and happily submitted himself to the execution. His last words were, "I am 86 years old, and Jesus has treated me kindly. He has done me no harm, and I will not deny Him until my last breath. I accept the death penalty with joy." "Polycarp" bore good fruit for Christ, lived according to the will of the Father, and finished his race."
If he had denied it, he would have received government assistance, and his descendants would have benefited. But he chose the narrow gate and found heavenly bliss. He has shown this great path to his descendants. "We must decrease, that He may increase."
Until the age of 86, Polycarp lived as an example in his words and deeds, without offending anyone, and for others to behave with chastity and respect for each other. He made many people live. Let us also take the lead in honouring, let us live humbly, and let others live as we think we should live and be happy. It is not enough for us to attain heavenly bliss, let us also lead others to attain heavenly bliss. "Souls are our treasure"
Let us work with the Father's will in mind so that the fruits of our labours may be reaped not here but there. Amen!.
