Weakness is no obstacle to obedience

 

"I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me" - Philippians 4:13

 

Moses considered his physical weakness to be an obstacle to obeying the Lord's command. When the Lord called Moses to deliver the people of Israel from slavery in Egypt, Moses said to the Lord, "O Lord, I am not eloquent, neither before nor since. You have spoken to Your servant; but I am slow of speech and of a slow tongue." Then the Lord said to him, "Who has made man's mouth? Who has made the dumb, the deaf, and the seeing? Am I not the Lord? Go, and I will be with your mouth and teach you what you shall say." In Exodus 4:10-12, the Lord encouraged Moses to do his work.

 

Oswald J. Smith, a servant of God, was very weak in his childhood. Whenever any illness came to that city, it would come to Oswald first and then to others. He was such a weak boy with no resistance. Oswald gave himself completely to the Lord’s service. The Lord saw his dedication rather than his weakness. So the Lord used Smith very powerfully. He helped him establish the largest church in the world, the People’s Church, in Toronto, Canada. What this shows is “For we have not an high priest which cannot be touched with the feeling of our infirmities; but was in all points tempted like as we are, yet without sin” (Hebrews 4:15)

 

Beloved! When we are beset by problems, trials, and weaknesses in our lives, let us continue to say, “I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me.” We receive His strength by submitting to His will. Our weakness is no obstacle to obeying the word of the Lord.
