Wise to Good, Foolish to Evil

 

"...I want you to be wise to good and fools to evil" - Romans 16:19

 

There are warning signs on some roads that indicate accident zones, and on beaches and riverbanks that there are deep ravines, dangerous currents, slippery rocks, and places with quicksand. Medicine bottles have warning labels such as dosage and sleeping pills. Some bottles have labels that say poison. If we do not heed these warnings, they will definitely have harmful effects on us.

 

The Holy Bible is also full of such warnings. The scriptures make us aware of spiritual dangers. If the things we do affect and damage our relationship with God, we may lose eternal life. Warnings are given about many such things. There are warnings in the Bible about many things that we do not even realize are sins. Some people argue that where does the Bible say that smoking or watching movies is a sin? The Bible calls those who do anything that damages our body and soul as ungodly. 1 Cor. 10:5-11 says that lust, testing Christ, and murmuring are things that bring God's wrath. Christians are no exception to things like divorce, swearing, divination, fortune telling, buying lottery tickets, gambling, pride, jealousy, hatred, and unforgiveness. The Bible also warns against calling a brother a fool, being angry without reason, and saying that he is a fool as sins that are worthy of judgment.

 

Therefore, beloved! Only if we carefully read and meditate on the scriptures and know what is good and what is evil can we be wise for good and fools for evil according to the above verse. Shall we do it today?
