Seed will grow

“So, neither the one who plants nor the one who waters is anything, but only God who gives the growth.” – 1 Corinthians 3:7

John Hyde was an extraordinary man of prayers who became known us, “Praying Hyde” and “Apostle of Prayer.”  John Hyde was a missionary sent to Punjab, in India. He began his ministry with his friends in a small village in Punjab. John and his friend prayed day and night and met the people ceaselessly and shared the word of God. There was no transition. They did not perceive any change in them. Thus, they felt that all their efforts were futile. They were much discouraged. They questioned themselves asking, “Why? Are we not fit for ministry? Is there anything wrong in our way of preaching? Atlast John Hyde said, “This is my last and final effort. God give me one soul today.” Saying this he began to sing a song and shared the word of God. After sometime a youth came forward saying that he was deeply touched by the song. One by one they committed themselves to God and they were willing to be baptized. John Hyde’s prayer was not in vain.

Apostle Paul was very good at sowing the seed word of God far and wide. He sowed it everywhere and in the heart of every one and in all seasons whether it was convenient or inconvenient. But he was sure that God alone gives the yield. That is why he says, “I planted, Apollos watered, but God gave the growth.” So, Paul was able to accomplish his ministry without disheartening. 

Dear friends in ministry, we may be leading a church or doing ministry. We may be fatigue as there is no harvest of soul even after many years of ministry. We may not be able to see any transformation. Only sowing the word of God is our assignment. To us keep doing the work assigned o us with faith and prayer. God may give us some harvest to encourage us. But that doesn’t mean that all the other ministries were futile and fruitless. We have sent our bread upon the waters and it is certain we that we will get the yield after many days. Hallelujah!
