Daily Devotion (English) – 05.03.2025

As usual . . .

"Daniel… he kneeled upon his knees three times a day, and prayed, and gave thanks before his God, as he did aforetime" - Daniel 6:10

During her college vacation, Rita went to her relative Aunt Stella's house and stayed there for a month. When the vacation was over and she was traveling back to town, a scene appeared before her eyes again and again. At Aunt Stella's house, at exactly seven in the evening, Aunty, Uncle Victor, and another aunty would come to the hall with a Bible and a songbook in their hands, and the three of them would sing a song together, Uncle would read and explain the Bible passage, and the three would kneel down and pray. Rita would also join in. There would be no selfishness in prayer. They would pray enthusiastically in turns for the nation, the state, the ruler, the oppressed, the servants, the ministries, the relatives and the family. This order was a great experience for Rita. She left with a resolution.

Years passed, Rita got married, and came back to visit her aunt, uncle, and other aunty with her husband and child. Rita was very happy. At seven o'clock that evening, which she had been waiting for, all three of them, despite their old age, came out of their rooms with their Bibles. It was thrilling, tears welled up in their eyes. Yes, nothing had changed. When Rita shared with them that she had been following their prayer time as she had done before, they were delighted. Daniel knelt down and prayed before his God three times a day, just as he had done in Babylon. His regular prayer life was the reason why many people came to know the God of Israel. How wonderful that these elders, like Daniel, kept their prayer time, just as they had done before!

Yes, our way of life should be a model for raising up a godly generation. Let us remember Paul’s counsel in Titus 2:7, “In all things shewing thyself a pattern of good works.” May our prayer life and daily way of life be an example to others.

- Mrs. Emima Soundararajan
