Don't Love Money

 

"For the love of money is the root of all evil..." - 1 Tim. 6:10

 

A businessman had many servants. He had given one of them the responsibility of a cashier. As his business grew day by day, the cash flow increased. The cashier's hand received more and more cash. Little by little, he started stealing money. Eventually, the businessman came to know about this. He fired him without asking him anything. The cashier, who was unemployed, lived on stolen money for a few days. As the days passed, the need for money increased, and he took out a loan to pay it off. Finally, as the debt increased, he committed suicide and died.

 

The cashier seen above was living peacefully in a good job. As long as he did not think that he needed more money, he did not have any problem. When he got the desire for money, that's when his life started to get dark. His desire for money led him into misery. Similarly, in the Bible, Jesus Christ had a treasurer. His name was Judas Iscariot. He was given the bag of offerings. He lived comfortably and happily with Jesus. His days passed peacefully without any hardship or need. When he got the desire for money, he betrayed his teacher and earned money. Did the money he earned help him? No. Instead, he thought, "I did this wrong" and died (by committing suicide). The verse says that the desire for money is the root of all kinds of evil. The desire for money corrupts us. It brings many kinds of suffering.

 

In the Bible, there is a couple named Ananias and Sapphira. They decided to sell a field for the ministry, and they did sell it. But after selling the land and getting the money, the husband kept a share for his wife. What does this mean? It means the love of money. Not only did they cheat because of the love of money, but they also lied. The result was a terrible one. They both died together. Money is a necessity! Money helps with everything, but the love of money alone should not come to us any day. It will bring many evil things. Be careful! May the Lord Himself bless you! Amen!
