Lion

 

"...the Lion of the tribe of Judah, the Root of David... has conquered" - Rev. 5:5

 

The Holy Bible compares the Lord Jesus Christ to a lion. As many as have accepted Him as believers in His name are His children, that is, lion cubs! Let us meditate for a moment on whether the characteristics found in the lion are found in us, His children.

 

Courageous (Prov. 28:1): When a lion roars, fear will arise in the animals of the forest. Similarly, courage will arise in the righteous. Some of our sins, unbelief, etc., cause us to lose courage and be condemned to the lake of fire and brimstone. When Adam sinned, he lost courage and hid from the Lord. Yes, if we live a righteous life before the Lord and man, we can be as courageous as a lion.

 

Not backing down (Proverbs 30:30): A lion will not put his foot back under any circumstances. Jesus says, “No one who puts his hand to the plow and looks back is fit for the kingdom of God”! Today, we see many who have been saved living in a state of backsliding because of worldly cultures, superstitions, and traditions. We read in Hebrews 10:38 that if anyone shrinks back, my soul has no pleasure in him. We should not live as those who shrink back because of suffering and tribulation.

 

There will be no shortage of food (Nahum 2:12): In the lion's den there will always be a store of food. (Psalm 34:10). We see that even though the lion's cubs may be humiliated and hungry, those who seek the Lord will not lack any good. Above all, we should write the food of the Scriptures in our hearts, on the tablet of our hearts.

 

Beloved! We are called to be clear-minded and vigilant. Because our adversary, the devil, prowls around like a roaring lion, seeking whom he may devour. Let us live as conquerors like Jesus. May God Himself give us the graces to do so! Amen.
