Dough Test

"I have rejoiced in the way of thy testimonies, as much as in all riches" - Psalm 119:14

Hello kids! Today I am going to tell you a true story. Are you ready to listen? During the days when Christian missionaries were working in Africa, some tribal people accepted Jesus. Then a little girl named Suma started living as a witness for Jesus. One day, the missionary mother asked Suma to buy eggs. She also went to a farmer's house. Since there was no one at home, she went to the market and bought eggs, and also brought a dress that she liked there. That day, the whole village was talking about the farmer's sheep going missing. The neighbours said that if Suma had come to the house, she must have stolen the sheep, sold the sheep in the market, and bought the dress with that money, so they blamed her for nothing.

The next day, Suma was brought to the village headman. She told him the whole truth. “Your father was wrong to send you to Sunday school,” the headman said. According to the custom of that village, the guilty were given a piece of dried flour, opened their mouths wide, and forced into their mouths so that they could not move their tongue or jaws, and had to swallow it within a specified time. If they could not swallow it, they were the ones who had committed the crime. This was the test! They could not chew it, and none of it would be absorbed. Suma prayed silently. “Jesus, glorified by your name, help me to reveal the crime I have not committed.” After a while, moisture flowed from her mouth. A lump formed. She swallowed the flour completely and opened her mouth to show it. The farmer did not believe it. He said that she had played some trick. At the same time, a rogue came there. He had a goat in his hand. He said to the farmer, "Is this your sheep."? This sheep has destroyed my garden. He said, "Compensate me for the loss." The farmer, ashamed, agreed to compensate me for the loss. Suma said that she had never lied since she became a Christian. The name of Jesus was glorified.

Little children! God, who saved Suma from the crime of theft, will also save you from all these troubles if you pray sincerely.

- Mrs. Sudha Bhaskar
