Chicken

 

"...as a hen gathereth her chickens under her wings..." - Matthew 23:37

 

The chicken is the only bird that is widespread throughout the world. The chicken is a bird that is said to be an example of motherhood. The chicken feeds its chicks and teaches them how to find food. It fights off enemies when they come. We have seen birds like hawks, when they come to pick up their chicks, hiding them under their wings and protecting them. All this makes us realize the protective and caring nature that can be seen in a mother. The Lord also protects us in the same way, taking care of us, giving us clothes, education, work and many other benefits. According to the verse "He who touches you touches the apple of His eye" (Zechariah 2:8), the Lord, who protects us like the apple of His eye, is leading us.

 

The people of Jerusalem at that time were like children who did not want the Lord's embrace. "How often I have longed to gather your children together, but you have not taken them into your heart" (Matt. 23:37) says the Lord. Even though the Lord is ready to embrace us, there are millions of people who do not want that embrace, who do not know Him! We want to protect only ourselves and our families under the wings of the God of hosts. What are our efforts to reach those who do not know Him and receive His embrace? Do we pray for them? Do we bring the good news to those who have not come to the Lord? How many souls are we going to take to the Lord on his arrival? Who will complain to the Lord about us? What will be our situation if they accuse me of never speaking to them about you, Lord?

 

Let us tell others about the Lord as much as we can. Let us come under the wings of His love and do what we can to be protected from the wiles of the devil. "How then shall they call on him in whom they have not believed? and how shall they believe in him of whom they have not heard? and how shall they hear without a preacher?" (Romans 10:14)
