Don't Be Afraid to Preach

 

"For I am not ashamed of the gospel of Christ: for it is the power of God unto salvation to everyone that believeth." - Romans 1:16

 

A man named Carlos was traveling in a truck in Brazil to a town called Mato Grosso. The truck driver tried to talk to Carlos in every way, but Carlos remained silent until the end and said goodbye. As he was leaving, the truck driver gave him a small "New Testament" and said, "Please read this when you have time." He reluctantly accepted it and walked away, thinking about something.

 

Many months later, when the truck driver went to church, he happened to see Carlos there. He asked him, "Do you know me?" He said, "Do you know Carlos?" The day I received the New Testament you gave me; I was on the way to kill a man. Then I felt someone pulling my shirt; when I turned around, I saw no one. I sat there in shock, and after a while I opened the New Testament, you gave me. I read it and decided not to kill that man. Now I am a repentant man, I said happily.

 

Dear child of God! Two lives were saved by the New Testament given by that truck driver. If he had hesitated to give the New Testament, one would have become a murderer and the other would have been murdered. One received eternal life in Jesus Christ, and the other received life to live in the world.

 

We must always be ready to preach the gospel. We must not be ashamed. This is our job. If we do our job well, the Lord will also finish His work. The Bible says, “So shall my word be that goeth forth out of my mouth: it shall not return unto me void, but it shall accomplish that which I please, and it shall prosper in the thing whereto I sent it.” (Isaiah 55:11) So let us preach the gospel without hesitation; let us win back the lost.
