Pride That Made It Empty
"In the beginning God created the heavens and the earth. And the earth was without form, and void;." - Gen. 1:1,2
These are the first two verses of the Bible. The Lord created heaven and the earth. God would certainly have created His creation beautifully. But the next verse indicates that the earth was formless and empty. What happened to the beautiful world that God created?
Theologians say that there must have been a gap of thousands of years between the first and second verses. It was during this gap that the devil, due to his pride, was cast down to earth. They say that the devil who fell into this beautiful world, expressed his anger and wrath on the earth and turned the earth into formless and empty.
So God is putting this world back in order again. He has arranged everything, including the sun, the moon, and natural resources, and has provided a blessed earth for man. Look, if the world created by God can be destroyed by the devil who has been punished because of his pride, then our lives will also be spoiled because of pride. When pride comes, morality is spoiled and disorderly. Where there is no morality, emptiness begins to appear. Dear friend! God did not call us to live such a life. God wants us to be arranged, to live a holy life, and to have our lives repaired.
David Ben-Gurion was the Prime Minister of Israel. He always had a locked box in his hand. They were accusing David Ben-Gurion of misusing his position and keeping the money he had saved in that box. In a parliamentary meeting, the opposition insisted that the box be opened. David Ben-Gurion patiently opened the box. There was a coat and a stick in it. He said that these were useful to him when he was a shepherd in his youth, and that he should never allow pride to enter his mind because of his position, and that he kept these with him so that when such thoughts came, he would open the box and look at it and not forget his old life. Those who spoke about him were ashamed.
Yes, children of the Lord, even today we, children of God, will live as humble people. The Lord, who gives grace to the humble, will restore and exalt our lives. Humility precedes exaltation. Our Lord is gentle and lowly in heart. Today, let us humble ourselves before the Lord and receive grace and blessings from Him.
