The Word Brings Life

 

"Unless thy law had been my delights, I should then have perished in mine affliction" - Psalm 119:92

 

This is how a woman describes the paths she has traveled. "I lost my father at a young age. I studied amidst hardships and by the grace of God, I went to work. After a few years, I got married. I thought that there would be no more hardships and all my needs would be fulfilled. But what happened was that I was forgotten by everyone like a dead woman, just as the Bible says. It was an experience like a thornbush. I didn't know what to do. I felt that there was no point in living. In the meantime, a letter came from a sister. In it, "The Lord loves you" (Isaiah 62:4) was underlined. It also said, "Read the Bible daily." Immediately, I started reading the Bible daily. I understood the love of Jesus. Many verses comforted me. Where the thornbush had grown, a cedar tree grew. The word, the joy that had died in me, brought forth peace.

 

Yes, the word is the word of the living God! When we read it, we will know that those verses have been fulfilled in our lives. When we do not have faith, we will start having faith in reading and reading the scriptures. Yes, this is a living word. Words that can be fulfilled in our lives today. Words that revive our broken and crushed souls. A mirror that shows us. Through this, we can improve ourselves. Therefore, when David speaks about the word of the scriptures, he says, “It is more desirable than gold, even much more fine gold; sweeter than honey and the honeycomb” (Psalm 19:10). He also says, “Your word is a lamp to my feet and a light to my path” (Psalm 119:105).

 

Beloved, the entire scripture can revive and guide us. Are you broken and crushed? Do you have no one to comfort you? Is there no one to speak to you? Read the scriptures today. The Lord who revived that sister's life and made her see happiness, will revive your life too. He will make you happy too. The Bible is an incomparable treasure that we have received.
