Throw it out
"... The sailors were afraid, and they threw the cargo into the sea;" - Jonah 1:5
Two friends studied together from school to college and were separated due to work. One day, one of the two said, "Friend! I am coming to see you at your house." Oh! My friend is coming, but today there was a smell from a dead rat in my house! He searched here and there and tried to throw it away. He did not know where the dead rat was lying. The whole house smelled the same. Not knowing what to do, he sprayed room spray (perfume). The whole house smelled good. The smell was not noticeable. He was happy when his friend came. Then the two of them were talking about old experiences. As time passed, the smell diminished, and the smell began to be noticeable. The friend managed for a while, but after some time he could not! He said, "Friend, I am going" and left.
Here Jonah disobeyed the word (command) of God and instead of going to Nineveh, he boarded a ship to Tarshish. Seeing this, God commanded a great wind on the sea. Immediately, great waves arose on the sea, and the strong wind prevented the ship from moving forward. The people traveling on the ship sought the help of their gods. There is no use. They took the things they had from the ship and threw them into the sea. But no use. When they finally investigated and found out that this obstacle was because of Jonah, they threw Jonah into the sea, and the ship continued its journey peacefully. What should be thrown is Jonah, not the things.
Beloved people of God! No matter how much effort we make without knowing the cause of the struggles and problems we see, we will not get results. Why is peace, joy, tranquility, and blessings affected? We must surrender ourselves to God, identify the causes, and throw them away. If we do not do so, no matter how many other efforts we make, we may get temporary relief, but it is not permanent. We can create a fragrance to remove the odor. It is not permanent; the odor will come back. So, is there a struggle in our family or personal life? Let us examine and repair. Let us throw away what is not needed. Let us find permanent peace of mind! May the Lord bless us! Amen!
