The sight of the eyes
"...But a certain Samaritan, as he journeyed, came where he was: and when he saw him, he had compassion on him…" - Luke 10:33
Raju and Vimal were going home in a car. At that time, the railway gate was closed, so cars, bikes, and buses were all stopped for a long distance. Their car also stopped. Then a young man on his bike, wriggled and went forward. Seeing that, Raju said as if he had told at home he will not come back. Vimal said, no look how wisely he goes. How wise are today's young men? We do not know what his urgency is. May the Lord protect him, he said.
God gives a similar answer in a parable to the lawyer who asked him who is my neighbor. A man lies on the road, beaten by robbers, lifeless. The priest and the Levite were traveling separately that way. When they saw him, they passed by. But a Samaritan, who was traveling that way, saw him and had compassion. He bandaged his wounds, pouring wine and oil on them, put him in his own chariot, and took him to an inn. He took care of him. The next day, before he left, he gave the innkeeper two denarii and said, "Take care of him, and if you spend more, I will repay you when I return." Three people see the same scene. But only one of them was moved by the scene. So he acted. Even today, we see many scenes on the road. But are they just visions? Do they affect our minds? Let us think about it.
The two great commandments of God are to love the Lord your God with all your heart, with all your soul, and with all your strength. The second is to love your neighbor as yourself. If this love is in our hearts, the sight we see in our eyes will melt our hearts and motivate us to act. If we do not help people in need, there is no love in our hearts. The help we do to others for our name and fame is not the result of love. Love is what God expects from us. We must love Him and people.
Beloved people, let us fill our hearts with God's love this year by repairing our hearts. If the vision we see breaks our minds and is not expressed in action, people will not be able to feel the love of Christ. The kingdom of God cannot be built. Jesus Christ himself showed this same pattern. He felt compassion for the sick and healed them. He felt compassion for the dead and raised them from the dead. He saw the people who were eager to hear the word as sheep without a shepherd and preached. Let us act knowing that God has given us eyes to see so that we can act.
