Let's Repair the Altar of Humility

 

"...He who humbles himself will be exalted..." - Luke 18:14

 

It is very rare to find people who are truly humble today. Many who have truly humbled themselves in worldly life have attained a high position. Many who were proud have disappeared like chaff. Lucifer lost his position because of pride. He has prepared ways for us to be proud, and is waiting to make us proud and take us to the abyss. He deceived Eve and made her proud, so that she would disobey and not listen to God's command. (Gen. 3 : 5) On the day you eat of this, your eyes will be opened. He showed his desire that you will be like gods.

 

He thought to raise his throne above the throne of God, and he fell. He tempts people to be like God and brings them down. He tempted Jesus himself and said, "If you worship me, all things are yours." We see many people getting caught in the devil's cunning trap and perishing.

 

George Washington was a great president. He has lived up to his reputation as a hard-working and God-fearing man, and he remains the number one president to this day. He was a military commander before he became president. One day he was dressed as a normal man and was riding alone. No one knew who he was. A man who was the chief of the soldiers was cruelly employing the soldiers under him. Seeing this, Washington said to the leader that you too can help them. Immediately he said, "I will not work as a leader, I am here to get a job done. Immediately, Washington worked hard with the other soldiers and when he left, he gave them a card and said, "Call me if you need to work." It read, "George Washington, Commander of the American Army." Upon reading this, the leader fell facedown at his feet and begged for forgiveness.

 

If pride dwells in our hearts as we read this, let us repair the altar of our hearts. Let us ask God for humility. If we are deceiving people with false humility, let us repent. Let us put on true humility.
