What qualifies us?

 

"Most assuredly, I say to you, if anyone keeps My word he shall never see death" - John 8:51

 

Is there a shortcut to heaven? An old man walked by asking Robert. The reason is that the old man is used to use shortcuts always. Not taking tickets during journeys, bribing officials in offices to get things done, not queuing at the ration shop. . . He did not try to go straight like this. Robert said to the old man that you cannot go to heaven because you have earned everything at the crooked way. Old man, is there any way for forgiveness? he asked. Is it enough to give alms and charity? he asked. Robert told him the only way to do that is for us to be washed in the blood of Jesus Christ. Jesus said in John 14:6 I am the way and the truth and the life.

 

That is our only qualification. We may have done many pious deeds. Actions alone will not get us to heaven. Gods grace on us and pure blood to wash us from sins is required. By grace we can inherit heaven. Perhaps we should repent if we are praising the good deeds done in our life. Let us beg for grace.

 

Beloved, we must humble ourselves and ask the Lord, "Lord, I am a sinner, I have sinned against heaven and against you. I believe that you gave your life for me on the cross of Calvary. Forgive all my sins." Surely, the blood of Jesus Christ will remove all sins and cleanse us. He said there is no other remedy for us except the blood of Christ.

 

Beloved! We are not redeemed with silver or gold, but with the precious blood of Christ, the spotless lamb. Yes, there is no shortcut to our salvation or heaven. The only way we can be washed by the blood of Jesus Christ! Let us learn to keep our hearts pure every day. Let's enjoy the heavenly life!!
