Return
“…go after the one which is lost, until he finds it?” – Luke 15:4
A shepherd had more than a hundred sheep. He took great care of his sheep. A lamb that was born a few months ago was his favorite and it was special to him. He named him Dolly. Dolly grew up as a naughty sheep. During the day, without the knowledge of the master, it eluded and went away from the flock and enjoyed itself. In the evening, it returned and joined the fold sneakily. In the same manner Dolly escaped and went out one day. But it got caught in a dangerous situation. Dolly bleated frantically. Its piteous cry was not heard by anyone. When it was getting dark, the master went in search of Dolly. He was going here and there calling out Dolly, Dolly. On hearing the shepherd’s voice, Dolly replied by a mournful cry which meant to say that it was there badly in need of help. The master found Dolly and laid it on his shoulders. Dolly gave a sad look of repentance at his loving master.
In the Bible we read about a certain man who had two sons. The younger off them gathered his portion of goods and journeyed to a far of country. But his father hoped that his son would return home some day and he waited for his homecoming. The younger son enjoyed all worldly pleasures with his friends all he wasted his possessions with prodigal living. His friends forsook him when he had no more money to spend for them. Then he was starving for food. At this juncture he recollected the love shown and protection given by his father. He returned to his father with dirty clothes and sorrowful face. His father ran up to him and embraced and kissed him. He gave him the best robe to wear and put a ring on his hand and accepted him as his son.
Beloved readers, Dolly went astray when it wanted to enjoy freedom. The younger son left his home just for his friendship and worldly pleasures. Are we running away from our heavenly Father’s presence disregarding His plan for us just to fulfil vain carnal pleasures? Let us ponder for a minute. Just think of His love, compassion, care, protection and blessings showered on us right from the day we were formed in our mother’s womb. Let us return to our Heavenly Father. He is awaiting anxiously to accept us with love and keep us in His loving care. Let us run and take refuge underneath the everlasting arms of our Lord and stay safe and secure.
