Fervent prayer

 

"…but constant prayer was offered to God for him by the church…" - Acts 12:5

 

A young woman whom I knew got married. She wished to go with her husband who was working as a missionary in the North. Before her marriage she conducted a large Sunday school class in the town where she lived. It was a blessing to many children. She was worried about it, who would run the class after her. She had a younger brother. But he did not accept Christ. She prayed fervently that her brother would repent and take over the class she was leaving behind. As the days passed by she prayed more fervently. Finally the day came for her to leave. Everyone in the house bid her a tearful farewell. Her brother rushed over and grabbed her hands. Sister, I am also accepting your saviour. He promised that I will conduct your Sunday class. She rejoiced and praised God for answering her prayer with great joy.

 

The apostle Peter was imprisoned. Peter was kept safe in prison by soldiers guarding him. While Peter was kept in prison, the congregation prayed to God for him with fervently. This fervent prayer brought Peter out of prison through the angel.

 

Beloved reading this, pray for one another. "The fervent prayer of the righteous is very powerful." (James 5:16) the scriptures also teach us. The Lord will surely answer our fervent prayers. Our fervent prayer can be fruitful for our unsaved relatives, for those who are sick, and for everyone who wants to be freed from the curse of sin. If the prayers we have prayed so far have not been answered, or if we are really tired of praying and praying, let's start again today. It is certain that our fervent prayer will liberate many who are oppressed.
