Tomb on the hill
"He who finds his life will lose it, and he who loses his life for My sake will find it" - Matthew 10:39
Now a days cemetery has become one of the tourist attractions. There are places to visit in India like Taj Mahal. In France, the cemetery itself is a tourist attraction located at Paris. There famous scientists and philosophers whose graves are decorated with great expense. People who go to France don't miss to see these graves when they visit Paris. Even though they are dead, this tomb will represent their value, fame and influence. In the Scriptures a man built his tomb on a rock. Shepna was Aram's interrogator and treasurer. That means he had a good income with important position in the palace. His wish or a quest was to have a tomb cut for himself in a high place! Thus, he had the idea of cutting a grave for himself on the top of the hill, where people would always think of me. That is, what can we proudly do with money that is more than our needs? Thinking, he builds the tomb in a hill.
When we are blessed without problems, the mind's does not search God. Based on this comes the pride. The purpose of life should not become the preservation of wealth and blessings. Deuteronomy 6:10-12 tells us to be careful not to forget the Lord when you eat and are satisfied. Because when comforts and blessings multiply, he says, be careful that our mind does not go straight back to them. When blessings abound, man becomes exalted. Be careful of that.
Beloved! What is the purpose of our actions? They built the Tower of Babel that day to create a name for themselves. (Genesis 11:4) God did not like that. He dispersed their plan and people. Yes, if the purpose of our actions is name, fame, glory, honour, status, then God will not be pleased with it. Let's analyse ourselves to see if there is such thought in us.
