What is your value?

 

"…but with the precious blood of Christ, as of a lamb without blemish and without spot" - 1 Peter 1:19

 

A story of a Roman emperor named Julius Caesar is said, being kidnapped for money in 75 BC. They asked 20 talents of silver to release him. Caesar laughed at this amount and asked them to raise the ransom to a thousand talents. For he knew very well that he was worth more than 20 talents. The kidnappers did not know who he was.

 

What a contrast between Caesar's prideful determination of his worth by money, and the value God has placed on each of us! Our worth cannot be measured by money; Our value is shown by what our Father has done for us.

 

What price did God pay to save us? God the Father paid the price to redeem us from our sins and curses by giving His only begotten Son as a living sacrifice on the cross. "Knowing that you were not redeemed by the perishable things of silver and gold from the wasteful conduct of your forefathers, but by the precious blood of Christ, the blameless and unblemished lamb."

 

Beloved! Because of God's infinite love for us, He gave His only Son to die on the cross, paid His own blood as a price for us, and died and rose again in order to redeem us. That's how much you are bought by him. Caesar showed his worth with money. But our worth is in Jesus Christ, who made heaven and earth. It is the price God paid to redeem us that determines our value. So don't underestimate yourself. Realize your worth. You are precious. Alleluia!
