Compassion

 

"When the Lord saw her, He had compassion on her and said to her, “Do not weep" - Luke 7:13

 

There was a very poor family in Germany. They had a son. The parents died when he was young. The boy became an orphan. He had the ability to play the guitar and sing well. He was walking alone on a cold night playing the guitar. Hearing the sweet sound of his fingers, the old couple invited him into their house and gave him food and clothes. When they came to know that he was an orphan, they kept him in their house and took care of him and made him graduate. Martin Luther, who studied theology and was called the dawn of the religious reformation is that boy. It was because of the couple's compassion for the young Martin Luther that a great dawn of reformation appeared in the Church.

 

When the Lord Jesus saw the people during the days of his life, he repented. He performed miracles while being compassionate. Many incidents show that Jesus was compassionate. One of them is the Nain widow incident. She was a handmaiden and had a son. He also died. She sheds tears when he sees his son being carried away as a dead body. Jesus came and touched and raised the dead boy back to life, saying, "Repent, young man, get up." The dead man sat up and began to speak. He entrusted him to his mother. Consider one of these, a mother or father came to Jesus for a child. But Jesus, seeing the tears of a mother, with compassion and goes in search of him and performs a miracle. It shows us the compassion and caring spirit of Jesus.

 

Beloved! We must also become like Jesus in showing compassion to others. We should follow his example in showing concern. "Concern is a great virtue". God the Father sent His only begotten Son into this world out of concern for us. We, created in His image, need this caring spirit and heart! Let's seek God’s grace and get it.
