Daily Devotion (English) – 19.03.2021

Hope 

“Though He slay me, yet will I trust Him. Even so, I will defend my own ways before Him.” – Job 13:15

A ship was setting sail. All were delighted on the pleasant voyage. After voyaging for a particular time, a storm broke out. Towering waves and powerful wind tossed the ship. The sailor who was steering the ship got worried. An experienced sailor suggested to him to hold the ship in its position. So, the sailor struggled for hours and anchored the ship. The sailor thanked the seasoned senior. The aged sailor advised him to remember to anchor the ship and stop it from moving when the sea was rough and to begin sailing when the wind was favorable. 

Job was the greatest of all the people on the east. But adversity befell him. Though misfortune had come upon him, he trusted God completely. Job had 10 children, numerous livestock and a very large household. He was honored and treated with respect by everyone. Disaster occurred in his life one day. He lost all his children and property. He suffered great loss and lasting distress. But he did not sin with his lip. He said, “The Lord gave and the Lord has taken away; Blessed be the name of the Lord.” Later he was struck with painful boils from head to foot. He scraped them with a potsherd. When Job’s boat of life sailed on a troubled sea, his anchor of faith was set up on Jesus Christ. So, he assured “Though He slay me, yet I will trust Him.” Job knew very well that the Lord whom he had trusted would redeem his soul when his life would end. At last, he was saved and blessed and God rendered double to him.

Dear friends, how do we react when storm like troubles and grief arise in our lives? If we are shaken and tensed by the hard time, we will damage our boat of life. We must set up our anchor of hope on Jesus Christ and sustain our lives and receive blessings.
