The father- heart
“…his father… ran and embraced him and kissed him,” – Luke 15:20
Their daddy parked the new car and he was taking rest in his room. The eldest son was going round and round the car and looking at the new car with admiration. His four-year-old younger brother picked a stone and scribbled something by the door of the car quickly. Seeing him scratching the new car, the elder brother was annoyed. In anger he took an iron rod and hit him hard on his fingers. His father rushed out, on hearing the loud cry of the little one. Their daddy took him to the doctor. He was treated but the doctor after examining him said that it would take a few months’ time for him to get well. Father looked at his elder son and said, “Just for the scratches on the car you had injured your brother’s fingers. His hands are more valuable when compared to the damage done to the car. His son could not say anything.
In the gospel of Luke in the New Testament we read about a certain father who had two sons. The younger son asked for his portion of inheritance from his father. He was wasteful and extravagant. Having spent everything, he was without food to eat. He longed to fill his stomach with the pods of the pigs. Then he came to his senses and intended to beg his father to accept him as a servant. But his father welcomed him with compassion and threw his arms around him and kissed him. But the older son refused to accept his brother.
Dear readers, this world awaits to find fault with others and to punish them for their mistakes. There are a few people with the compassionate heart of fathers. There are numerous youngsters and elders who repent for their sins and want to get free from the sinful lives. But the people like the older son hesitate to accept them with their weakness. But we have been called to welcome everyone with love and compassion and embrace them, cheer them up and uplift them with father – heart of God. Each Christian should have a heart of a father.
