Honesty brings exaltation

“…you were faithful over a few things; I will make you ruler over many things…” – Matthew 25:21

Beloved kids, do you like fruits? Fruits are of different colors such as red apple, yellow banana, green grapes, orange colored orange and so on. Have you tasted different kinds of fruits? It is a treat to our eyes to see fruits hanging on trees. How sweet and delicious it will be to pick fresh fruits from the tree and relish them!

One day Madhavan and his friends were returning from the football ground after playing. On the way they had to pass a mango grove. A watchman was always on duty to watch over the mango trees laden with bunches of mangoes. Madhavan always had an eye on the mangoes. He wished to taste those mangoes one day or another. One day Madhavan’s mother was sick in bed and she could not go for work. She was too weak to do cooking. He was walking along the road sadly. The sight of the mango grove increased his appetite. He found out that the watchman was not in his cabin. He mustered up the courage and tiptoed to the garden. He picked a ripe mango and gobbled it quickly and he was having another one in his hand. The watchman returned just then. Calling him a thief, the watchman beat him. Madhavan with tears said, “I ate a mango because I was very hungry and my mother is sick and I have nothing to eat. Kindly forgive me.” The watchman believed his words. He wanted to test his honesty. He gave him 2 kg of mangoes and asked him to sell them out. Madhavan sold the mangoes and gave the money to the watchman. The watchman appreciated his honesty. The next day Madhavan was given 10 kg of mangoes to be sold at the market. He was truthful and gave the amount to his master. So Madhavan earned money to run his family. But his mother became weaker and her end came soon. Madhavan was helpless and he did not know how to survive. But the watchman was kind enough to adopt Madhavan as he was childless. He took care of him and showered love on him. Madhavan could not believe his eyes.  As Madhavan was honest, he found favor in the eyes of the watchman. Goodness and blessings followed him all the days of his life. What an exaltation!

Dear kids, whether we are seen or unseen by others, every word and every action of ours must be truthful because we are watched over by our Heavenly Father always. If we are faithful to God, we will receive blessings and exaltation without being sought it after. Amen.
