Unchanging love

“For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have everlasting life.” – John 3:16 

“Hello, friend! please wait for me. Here are some chocolates for you, dear” called out Mahesh. Prabhu thanked him and asked how he got so many costly chocolates. Mahesh replied saying “My dad came from abroad yesterday. I do not want to have them to myself. I am happy to share them with you.” Prabhu thought to himself that he was loved deeply by his friend. Thus, Mahesh and Prabhu were intimate inseparable friends. The people in the neighborhood knew about their friendship as they had been living in the same area and going to the same school. The people took them as a good example of true friendship. They appreciated them for being friendly without any controversy. So, their friendship was growing deeper. 

One day Mahesh and Prabhu planned to go for a walk together in the nearby wood. They were chatting and enjoying their walk. Suddenly they heard the growl of an animal. By the time they could guess whether it was the bear’s growl, there appeared a bear. As Mahesh knew climbing trees, he began to climb up a tree. As Prabhu did not know climbing, he cried out trembling, “Dear friend, you have assured your deep love towards me many times. Help me to climb up. “But Mahesh climbed to the top without helping his friend. Prabhu was helpless. Suddenly it dawned on him to lie down holding his breath on the ground and pretend to be dead. The bear came closer and smelt. Seeing him breathless, it went away as bears don’t touch dead bodies. Mahesh had forgotten and forsaken friend in the life-threatening situation. Now Prabhu understood that there is a limit to a friend’s love. When Mahesh climbed down the tree, he asked Prabhu what the bear whispered in his ears. He stated that the bear advised him not to trust human beings because their love would waver at times.  Yes, only the love of Jesus is immeasurable and unchangeable.

Beloved readers, we must not be deceived by the people who say that they love us to the core of the heart. We must always remember the unfathomable love of the Lord Jesus Christ who gave His life for us. We can believe in and rely on the inscrutable love of Jesus and He is always with us awaiting anxiously to help us with love in any situation. What a friend we have in Jesus!
