What overcomes us?

“Then the word of God spread….” – Acts 6:7

In a certain village, an old couple owned 9 acres of agriculture land. They grew different kinds of crops in the field. Once there was no rainfall and ground water ran dry and their well dried up and the rocks were visible in the well. The plants were wilting due to drought. The old couple lifted their eyes to Heaven and had been praying to God. One day when they were reading Psalms 114, the Holy Spirit spoke to them through the 8th verse which says, “Who turned the rock into a pool of water. The flint into a fountain of waters.” They trusted God completely and prayed clinging to the promise of the Lord. With unwavering faith, they requested God to turn the rock into a pool according to His word. They kept praying until they got the assurance that God had responded to their prayer. The very next day, when they went to the field, water was gushing from the spring in the rock. They thanked the Lord for performing a miracle. While all the other wells around that areas were dry, God had provided them with sufficient water for the crops in their 9 acres of land.

Abraham and Sarah were both old and well advanced in age and they had no children. But Abraham believed in the Lord who said “I will make your descendants as the dust of the earth.” Abraham was one hundred years old when his son Isaac was born to him.

Dear ones, the Holy Spirit often speaks to us through the word of God. Do we cling to His word and pray? It is good to overlook the difficult situation and believe in the powerful word of God. Unless the seed is sown, it cannot grow and give good yield. When the word of God is planted in us, it takes root and grows well. If so, we can overcome any situation and lead a victorious life.
